On 13 November 2020, the S&P Dow Jones Indices, a leading provider of financial market indices, and RobecoSAM, the investment specialist focused exclusively on sustainability, announced the results of the 2020 Dow Jones Sustainability Indices review.

Following the submission that Provident Financial plc made to RobecoSAM in July as part of this review, the company continues to be included in both the Dow Jones Sustainability World Indices (DJSI World) and Dow Jones Sustainability Europe Indices (DJSI Europe).

Inclusion in the DJSI World means that Provident is in the top 10% of the largest 2,500 companies in the S&P Global Broad Market Index with regard to its sustainability performance. And being included in the DJSI Europe means that it is in the top 20% of the largest 600 European companies in the S&P Global BMI based on long-term economic, environmental and social criteria.

Rob Lawson, Head of Sustainability, Provident Financial plc commented:

“We are proud to continue to be included in both the DJSI World and DJSI Europe. Our inclusion in these presitigous indices reflects our longstanding commitment to provide responsible and sustainable products and services which help put people on a path to a better everyday life, while responding to climate change, inclusion and diversity, mental health and wellbeing, and other urgent issues of our time.”

Manjit Jus, Global Head of ESG Research and Data, S&P Global said:

“We congratulate Provident Financial plc for being included in the DJSI World and DJSI Europe. A DJSI distinction is a reflection of being a sustainability leader in your industry. With a record number of companies participating in the 2020 Corporate Sustainability Assessment and more stringent rules for inclusion this year, this sets your company apart and rewards your continued commitment to people and planet."
