Provident Financial has published its tenth annual corporate responsibility (CR) report providing stakeholders with a detailed account of how the company has managed the social, environmental and economic issues it has faced over the last 12 months.

The report demonstrates that the CR programme continues to remain a fundamental strand of the company’s business strategy and that Provident is committed to running its business in a sustainable and socially responsible manner. This, along with an excellent set of financial results, has been achieved despite some of the most challenging economic conditions for decades and is testament to the work undertaken to maintain focus on the company’s mission to be the leading non-standard lender in the UK, acting responsibly in all its relationships and playing a positive role in the communities it serves.

The report shows that Provident’s CR programme continued to make great strides in responding to the issues that matter to its stakeholders and ensuring that CR is an integral part of how it does business. The report not only shows how being a responsible corporate citizen underpins the way the business lends to and treats its customers, but also its commitment to contribute to addressing the social issues of the communities it serves and minimise the impact that its business activities have on the environment.

Peter Crook, Chief Executive of Provident Financial, commented:

“This report demonstrates to our stakeholders that we continue to work hard to ensure that our CR programme is embedded across all areas of our business and adds real value to what we do. I am particularly proud of the work we have delivered to the many communities we serve during 2010. Through our flagship community programme, Good Neighbour, we are working with partners in communities from Dundee to Dublin and Bradford to Bristol to address issues such as crime prevention, unemployment, and health and well-being. I remain committed to ensuring that our CR programme plays an important role in the growth of our business and in ensuring that we continue to deliver sustainable benefits to all our key stakeholders”.
