Vanquis Banking Group are pleased to be joining Plain Numbers as an Implementation Partner. Together, over the next three years, we will work on improving consumer outcomes with clear and understandable financial communications.

Our purpose is to help to put people on a path to a better everyday life, and signing up with Plain numbers, and implementing better communications throughout our business further solidifies our commitment to helping people better understand their finances.

“We’re delighted to be launching a new partnership with Vanquis Banking Group. As the founding Chief Executive of both Plain Numbers and National Numeracy I am particularly excited that Vanquis Banking Group are the first to partner with both organisations at the same time. Working together, I’m confident Vanquis and Plain Numbers will help thousands of customers navigate their financial decisions with clarity.” - Mike Ellicock, Chief Executive, Plain Numbers

Team members have already enthusiastically begun their Plain Numbers training. This Practitioner course brings to life the numerical struggles much of the public must contend with when making financial decisions. It also equips our Practitioners with the tools and strategies that ensure their communications can be sent out in Plain Numbers. We know the way numbers are communicated can significantly improve consumer understanding and Plain Numbers will support us in implementing these changes over the next three years.

The training will consist of a limited number of practitioners (15 over 3 years), In the first instance, colleagues from the cards business are being engaged, which will scope to include colleagues from across the business as the partnership progresses. We will then share learnings from the partnership via our own colleagues once they’ve qualified as ‘practitioners’.

Fiona Anderson, Managing Director, Cards at Vanquis commented: “I’m delighted we’re partnering with Plain Numbers to continue making our communications clearer, furthering our customers’ understanding of the information within these.

We know it’s more important than ever to support consumers ability to make well-informed financial decisions, which is why we’re the first organisation to work with both National Numeracy and Plain Numbers, to support numeracy skills across the UK as well as better clarity of numerical information in communications.”

Our education and inclusion strategy here at Vanquis Banking Group are at the forefront of our development goals. Recognising the societal challenges faced by many of our customers, we’re fully committed to supporting people who struggle with numbers. As a longstanding supporter of the charity National Numeracy, we have now taken a further step by becoming a Plain Numbers Partner.

Rob Lawson, Head of Sustainability at Vanquis Banking Group commented; “We’re delighted to team up with Plain Numbers to enhance how we communicate with customers who may struggle with numbers and interpreting financial information. We know that people who are not confident using numbers in their everyday lives can face challenges in managing their finances and budgeting for the future. And this can lead to anxiety and stress, especially in the current financial climate. At Vanquis Banking Group, we’re committed to ensuring that our customers understand their financial situation and the products we offer, and we look forward to working with Plain Numbers to make things even clearer for them.”

“We at Plain Numbers are excited to be a part of this commitment and together we will help put people on a path to a better financial life.”
